Roadside Technician (Patrol)

First-class vehicle diagnosis is one of the things the AA is famous for. Using our expertise and state-of-the-art technology to get motorists back on the road safely and quickly are what we stake our reputation on. And we want to put you right on the front line.

Responding to calls from AA members, you'll be on hand with state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment to find faults and get vehicles back up and running, where possible. This calls for a City & Guilds part 1 and 2 in motor-vehicle-craft studies or an equivalent NVQ Level 3; not to mention great customer service skills, a courteous, professional approach and an in-depth, practical knowledge of the mechanical and electrical workings of a wide range of motor vehicles. This will come from at least three years in motor-vehicle repair or five years in engineering.

In return, you can look forward to genuine career and training opportunities with a big-name brand, plus excellent benefits.

Working in as an AA patrol is not a 9am-to-5pm, Monday-to-Friday job. We have to ensure that our AA members and business customers receive the expert level of service required whenever they need it. Because of this, you'll be working shifts - working evenings, weekends and bank holidays are the norm. You'll be on standby for some additional hours each month. You have the opportunity however to state a preference for a shift pattern and to reduce or increase the level of standby. If you have top-quality driving skills (no more than five points on your driving licence), a good level of motor vehicle technical expertise, have a flexible attitude to working hours and the kind of personality people instantly warm to, please see our current vacancies and apply online.
